Recipe from the episode

In this episode, we prepare traditional Slovak bryndza dumplings with crispy bacon. Humor is part of the Cooking Club, but the recipe remains honest and usable.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 250 g semi-coarse flour
  • salt to taste
  • 250 g bryndza cheese
  • 33% whipping cream
  • 100 g butter
  • 300 g bacon

Method

  1. Peel the potatoes and grate them finely. Mix them in a bowl with flour and a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring salted water to a boil in a large pot and press the dough through a dumpling maker directly into the water.
  3. Cook until the dumplings float to the surface. Save a little of the cooking water.
  4. Mix bryndza cheese with cream, melted butter and a little dumpling water. Then stir in the drained dumplings.
  5. Cut the bacon into small pieces and fry it in a pan until crispy.
  6. Serve the dumplings topped with crispy bacon and drizzle with the bacon fat.
